DELTA HOTELS VICTORIA OCEAN POINTE RESORT
Sometimes we plan grand adventures complete with packed itineraries and events. Other times, we simply need a change of scenery. That is what happened when I booked a stay at Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort, where a city break turned into moments of quiet pause and reflection.
Hotel aficionados know that location is everything. The Ocean Pointe has to be in one of the best parts of the city, situated on Victoria's lovely waterfront and a short walk from the historic city centre. Arguably the best part of my stay was the ocean view and daily strolls along the water. Sitting upon a busy port, I had the pleasure of watching water taxis, seaplanes and ferries glide by all day long. I even spotted some early morning wildlife including a wandering deer and rabbits. At night, the quaint yet impressive skyline lit up with landmarks such as the Empress and parliament in sight. The hotel was ideally along the Songhees walkway, a charming shoreline bustling with both tourists and locals. This would lead directly to the Johnson Bridge which crossed over to downtown. While the hotel felt like a retreat in itself, everything was well within reach.
The room was cozy yet modern with a coastal vibe. They have been recently renovated and felt clean and refreshed. I made the most of the luxurious bathroom amenities and plushy bed. The elongated windows were the highlight and I closed my evenings curled up in the chair watching the last bits of the day go by (usually with a coffee in hand). Alternatively, there were countless places to watch the sunset right outside the doorstep. The weather was a mix of sunshine and drizzle but fear not-the room comes with an umbrella tucked neatly away in the closet. I thought that was one of the more adorable details. The wardrobe itself was one of my favourite features with its shutterboard doors, warm lighting and shelving. I kind of wanted to take it home with me.
The lobby was stylishly decorated with art and plenty of seating. I appreciated the convenient grab and go bar in the morning where they served fresh Starbucks coffee and tasty croissants as well as other drinks and snacks (for later, of course). Alternatively, there was The LURE restaurant and bar which boasted scenic patios, music and a menu of local delicacies. Although I didn't use the other services, there was also a wellness spa and pool here too. To be honest, the entire experience was giving spa treatment.
This was my first trip to Victoria and Ocean Pointe was the perfect introduction. I looked forward to waking up each day in the comforts of my room and then venturing out into the harbour. It really fit in with the no pressure theme of my trip. That being said, I did rack up a pretty impressive step count.
In true west coast fashion, this gave me the chill experience I was seeking and I'm already wondering when I can do it all over again.
