NEW YORK CITY HIGHLIGHTS PART 1

In true New Yorker fashion, I am going to get straight to the point. Here are the highlights of my amazing, mother-daughter trip to New York City back in January. Though it was our second time in the Big Apple. we found even more reasons to love this city and a few familiar ones.

One of the first highlights of our trip, and any trip to New York City,  is the arrival. Taking a cab from JFK  airport into Mid-Town Manhattan is an unforgettable experience. The first glimpse of that iconic skyline is spellbinding as towering skyscrapers unfold before your eyes. We have been watching New York on the big screen our whole lives but nothing can prepare you for the real life moment! The first trip to New York can be a bit of a shock to the system-it is loud, gritty and larger than life. But, we really embraced the city in all its forms and loved every minute. We stayed in the heart of Times Square and took advantage of the endless entertainment, shopping and food on our first night. This included a stop at the infamous Los Tacos No. 1, the city's much loved and highly acclaimed taqueria.

This popular spot has several locations in the city, originating in Chelsea Market and then expanding to Tribeca, Grand Central, Noho and Penn Station. But we absolutely loved the lively vibe at the Times Square location. It goes without saying the tacos were absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients and authentic taste. Once you have visited, you will want to keep going back not just for the mouthwatering tacos but the vibrant atmosphere. If you know you know!

Times Square is often nicknamed the 'Crossroads of the World'. It is like the ultimate meeting point. From mesmerizing billboards to questionable mascot characters, Times Square is equally chaotic as it is iconic. Personally. I think it is the perfect base to explore and embrace the madness. What I love about New York City is that it never stop or sleeps. There is something comforting about everyone collectively enjoying a city into the later hours.
