THE WORLD'S BEST WINDOW SHOPPING

In 2023, online shopping is a way of life for most people. You can stay in your pajamas and don't have to leave your house. Fair enough. But, do you ever get the urge to walk in a city and peer inside the shop windows, often with the intention of not buying anything. I do. All the time. That is why I love cities where the shopping boulevards are an attraction in itself. Sometimes I worry that real life shopping is a dying art, but these places remind me it is still alive.

GINZA, TOKYO

Soaring skyscrapers, shiny cars and enough neon billboards to make you dizzy, this is Ginza, pictured above in our beloved Tokyo, Japan. Ginza is a stunning display of fashion, electronics and admirably well-dressed locals all in one street. Despite being the home of luxury shopping in Tokyo, this is a relatively quiet, relaxing place to stroll especially in comparison to Shibuya. Walking here is an experience to say the least, and I would highly recommend visiting just as the sun sets so you can see it light up nicely. Oh, Tokyo. We really love you over here on C&C.

FIFTH AVENUE, NEW YORK CITY

What can we say about New York that has not already been said? It is arguably the most famous city in the world and Fifth Avenue is the same. If you have ever dreamed of living your Carrie Bradshaw fantasy, a walk down here would definitely do it. SAKS, Tiffany's and more will have you feeling like you are on a film set. Seriously, what is it about New York City that makes you want to buy designer shoes and take on the world?

CHAMPS-ELYSEES, PARIS

I went to Champs-Elysees on my last trip to Paris back in 2015. Starting at the glorious Arc de Triomphe, I walked the iconic main drag of the French capital. Lined with rows of trees and that unmistakable architecture, I can see why it is referred to as 'the most beautiful avenue in the whole world'. The designer eye-candy is real with classics such as Dior and Chanel, but there is also some tourist- friendly, affordable stores  and restaurants to enjoy (thanks Paris, appreciate it).

VIA CONDOTTI, ROME

Via Condotti, Rome-even the name screams designer heaven. This street celebrates the OGs of Italian fashion-Gucci, Prada and Georgio Armani are all here. Plus they look even better in that signature golden, Roman hue. Located right at the bottom of the incredible Spanish Steps in Rome, this is high fashion at its best. If you love window shopping, go here immediately. The world's largest Valentino store is also a few minutes away.

ROBSON STREET, VANCOUVER

Coffee, Yoga, and a coastal meets cosmopolitan vibe. It must be Vancouver. Vancouver shopping is superb and particularly here on Robson Street. Robson Street has all of the popular brand names but also includes cute, independent boutiques as well. Plus, Vancouver always has my back for a Starbucks fix. Anytime I have been in need of a city break closer to home, Vancouver does the trick and I rarely get tired of walking this fabulous street.

BOND STREET, LONDON

As a surprise to no one, London is my favourite city to window shop in. While I could recommend so many places, Bond Street is a great place to start as it is considered London's main strip of luxury shopping. Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Burberry are a few expensive, not so subtle hints. Located in Mayfair, Bond Street is a prestigious, attractive street in the heart of the West End. It is close to all the action but also runs into ritzy, residential neighbourhoods with celebrity-status flats. I love Bond Street the most at Christmas time, but it is also great on a warm, summer evening.

Do you miss shopping offline and in the real world? Where is your favourite place to window shop?
