TIMELESS FESTIVAL STYLE

It has been a month since Glastonbury and Coachella has truly come and gone, but festival season is just getting started. One of the most intriguing things about music festival season is the fashion, and it got me wondering what trends should go and what should stay for years to come.

The allure of music festivals is definitely feeling free and that's what the outfit should represent.

Blouse
In my opinion, the ultimate timeless festival piece is a draping blouse that moves with you as you walk through a field with a light breeze and the sun setting. This would likely be my number one choice (you know, if I was actually going to a musical festival). Pairing a feminine blouse with a leather jacket or parka is a perfectly contrasting festival style combination.

Plain White T-Shirt
The next best thing to a blouse or possibly better, would be a plain white tee. This article of clothing is the epitome of cool, comfortable and classic. Throw on a pair of jeans and some sunglasses and your outfit is complete without a second thought. You might even get mistaken for one of the band.

Denim
I think we can all agree that jeans are the universal clothing item of music and culture in general. These days, there are so many styles to choose from, whether you want a seventies inspired flare or a more grunge bootcut. The possibilities are endless. A good old fashioned jean jacket is also an option.

Boots
I think festivals, particularly British festivals, are a great excuse to buy a pair of boots. When we think of this, we probably remember Kate Moss's revolutionary Glastonbury style circa 2005. She really did that. But I also love the idea of a lightweight ankle boot perfect for kicking up sand in the desert (yep, I'm referencing Coachella again. It's very hard not to).

Flower Crowns
Flower crowns have been a staple of festivals since the beginning and make comebacks via social media filters and so on. Personally, I think they are more cliché than timeless, but they are fun, cute and clearly not going anywhere.

Layered Jewelry
This is another trend I can do without, but I know that the bohemian lifestyle is really the backbone of festivals. Therefore, I think layered necklaces, bracelets and rings will remain. My only concern is when they take over the outfit. I always prefer the less is more approach, but there is no better time to play around with this look than at a festival. Please feel free to go crazy with the jewelry if that's what makes you happy!

Make a Statement
Once in a while, you will see a celebrity show up at a festival in a completely creative, bright and bold look. This look might throw off the whole formula of festival style, and sometimes that is necessary.  I actually love when this happens because it keeps things fresh. At the end of the day, there are no rules for festival fashion. It's all about the music, not the clothes (right?).
