NOVOTEL LONDON PADDINGTON

The Novotel Paddington London was my first hotel in London and has been my base ever since. Besides feeling like a home away from home, my favourite thing about this hotel is the location.

Novotel London Paddington is located in the heart of London, conveniently linked by the Heathrow Express. This is of course, a huge draw. But the more you visit, the more you fall in love with Paddington itself. At least I did. I love morning strolls in Little Venice and Maida Vale, stopping at the local Starbucks and brushing shoulders with the business people in Sheldon Square. Over the years I have discovered so many hidden gems here among the canals and tucked away mews. It's always felt like my own little sanctuary in London even though I know that's not the case. It is as central as it gets. Paddington has major connections to tube and railway services. From the Circle and District lines to the classic Bakerloo, you can get to every major attraction from here. They have also recently unveiled the new Elizabeth Line.

Now that we have touched on the location, we can talk about the stylish, modern hotel. Even though it is a popular stop for work trips, it is ideal for every traveler. I can't count how many times I've walked into my room, dropped my bags down and put up my feet. Or how many times I have watched the trains from my window and made evening runs to the station. I'm pretty sure I have the train announcements memorized by now. I have lots of memories here. The rooms are minimal but meet all needs with tea, coffee and amenities. I am always happy to find a kettle in tea-loving countries such as England and Japan. In North America it would be a miracle to have one in your room. I didn't use it this time, but it is a nice touch nonetheless. Though the rooms are simplistic, they are cozy. After a long day in London, I always enjoy the warm bathroom lighting and rain shower. I always sleep well here and the novelty of waking up in London never wears off, that I can say for sure.

Like most hotels of its brand, the lobby is welcoming and atmospheric. I have always loved breakfast in the Elements restaurant. Guests can enjoy a typical English breakfast of eggs, sausage and hashbrowns. There is also fresh croissants, fruit and orange juice. I have had other hotel breakfasts, but this one is still my favourite by far. The dining here is great but there are plenty of options at your doorstep, whether you want something convenient or fancier. Over the last decade, I have seen many new restaurants and bars pop up here. In the summer, there is always something happening outdoors. To reiterate, the location is ideal.

It was not my first time walking through the revolving doors of this hotel, and won't be my last! And yes, that is a framed photo of Paddington Bear in the lobby.
