NOTTING HILL'S MOST PHOTOGRAPHED STREETS

I'm back in Canada but mentally, I am still in Notting Hill, among other places. One of the benefits of traveling to London in March was that it was spring, of course, and the streets seemed quieter than normal-ideal for tourist photoshoots and strolls.

The Lost Poet, Portobello Road

There are certain neighbourhoods in London I always visit and Notting Hill is one of them. Movie famous, impossibly adorable and a little unconventional, Notting Hill is adored by visitors around the world, myself included. I start every visit at Notting Hill Gate and from there, turn onto Pembridge Road. Pembridge Road is lined with cafes, souvenirs and vintage shops. There are also beautiful gardens. As you get further down, you see the streets become more and more colourful, like a rainbow unfolding before your eyes. It is a perfect preview of what is to come. Of course I am talking about Portobello Road. One of the most famous street markets in London and the world known for antiques and much, much more. On weekends you get lost among the crowds but lucky me, I was there on a weekday. I always enjoy myself here, but on a quiet, still morning my soul was extra happy. I browsed some stores and stopped at Fabrique Bakery for a croissant and latte. Though the market is incredibly photogenic in its own right, the real stars are the streets just off of Portobello Road.

I honestly spent a good hour on Denbigh Terrace taking photos. This street is known for its cotton candy coloured homes. It was so peaceful, I still can't believe I got the street to myself. OK, there were a few others there but, not many. Visiting London this time of year has its advantages. If you were wondering how streets could get any more vivid than this, they can, because this is Notting Hill and just up the street is Westbourne Grove. Westbourne Grove is another street off of Portobello Road that is known for being vibrant and artsy. Notting Hill can't escape its cute reputation, but here's your reminder it is also cool and trendy.

One of the most famous spots in Notting Hill is St. Lukes Mews. In case you were wondering, a mews is a row of apartments or houses that were converted from horse stables and London is full of them. It is no wonder they look unique and are so magical to wander in. St Lukes Mews is one of the prettiest and was even featured in Love Actually, another film location in Notting Hill! It also has a famous pink house (no surprises there). There are many gorgeous side streets and courtyards in Notting Hill so always keep your eyes open.

Finally, I will mention Lancaster Road, more radiant rows of houses. This street can be found near the end of Portobello Road and is much brighter and bolder than the little marshmallow streets of Denbigh. We are talking bright yellows, reds and purples. While we are at it, stop by Colville Terrace as well for a similar vibe.

If you are looking for that perfect Instagram reel or photo, come to these Notting Hill streets for all the inspiration you will need.
