HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

This past year is nearly impossible to put into words, so instead I have been hopeful for the next one and enjoying a relaxing Christmas vacation. Unfortunately, it ends tomorrow and I am going to have to set my alarm again. The beginning half of 2020 saw a lot of fear and uncertainty in life, but the second half kept me quite busy with work and moving. Last month I moved into a cozy one-bedroom apartment and have been enjoying settling in.

These past months made me more grateful than ever for travel and some of the memories I have made around the world. It will feel amazing to board that first flight and wake up in a foreign city again. But it has also gotten me to look for inspiration at home since let's face it, that is where we have been spending all our time. I have been loving slow mornings, coffees and watching snow fall outside my window. Oh, and watching way too much cooking and home renovation shows on television. As much as I love to watch interior decorators work their magic, I have no interest in knocking down walls and heavy lifting. That is why I am so glad my apartment came furnished and all I had to do was put my personal touch on things. I probably won't put away my miniature Christmas tree until February.

One could say that new years has always been an overrated night, but this time it felt different. Probably because we felt more reflective than ever on things that matter to us, trusting that next year will be better. It definitely felt worth having a glass of wine for in the comforts of home. Let's hope this year is much kinder and sprinkles some magic into our lives! It won't happen overnight, but am feeling optimistic.

Happy New Year!
