LONDON'S MOST BEAUTIFUL DEPARTMENT STORES

London and department stores are a match made in heaven. Anyone lucky enough to experience the holiday season here would understand. Of course, there are a handful of stores that do it best and visiting these places is as much a tradition as any. These are London's most beautiful department stores.

HARRODS

You can't go to London without getting lost in Harrods at least once. This is a personal favourite of mine, always stunning me with its extravagant beauty. It's as if I stumbled into an exclusive club, which is part of the fun of visiting. Millions of people flock to Harrods each year to revel in its luxurious fashion and food. This time of year, it becomes even more beautiful if you can believe it. Located in gorgeous Knightsbridge, Harrods is a true landmark of London and always worth braving the crowds for.

LIBERTY

Ah, another favourite. I absolutely adore coming into this department store, making my way up its creaking staircases and dark, elegant hallways. Celebrated for its beautiful unique fabrics and homeware, one could easily dream of decorating their entire house with its products. Everything seems so beautifully designed and the Christmas displays are so endearing, much like the store itself.

SELFRIDGES

As one of the most famous stores in the world, Selfridges always does Christmas in style. It is a pleasure to spend an afternoon here and take in in the seasonal atmosphere. Located on the notoriously busy Oxford Street, Selfridges seems to outdo itself each year. When it comes to high-end shopping, Selfridges doesn't have competition. They are the competition.

FORTNUM & MASON

It would not be a Christmas in London without Fortnum & Mason. To say this store goes all out for the holidays would be an understatement. With an ideal location on Piccadilly, this is one of London's oldest and most loved department stores. It is obvious a lot of planning goes into their Christmas themes. Besides being one of the best places in the city to browse and window shop, it is also a tea lover's dream, serving afternoon tea as well as coffee, wine and other treats.

JOHN LEWIS

Probably best known for their tear-jerking commercials, John Lewis is another holiday staple in London. This store brings in lots of customers with its family-friendly Christmas shops. It has a wide range of clothing brands with some affordable prices. It is also the perfect place to shop for gifts as it has everything from furniture to electronics. You know Christmas in London has officially started when the John Lewis adverts come on television.
